Love and hate; hate and love. They’re so strong for being such seemingly little words.
These two feelings cap the opposing ends of the emotional spectrum. And while the feelings they invoke vastly differ, what they share is their incredibly powerful influence over people.
What’s troubling, though, is that the ease of finding hate in the world has become increasingly simple. It feels like every time you turn on the television there’s a hate-fueled story as a headliner. It oozes from all corners of the planet from all different groups of individuals, oftentimes with no boundaries whatsoever.
That can be quite an overwhelming feeling.
But while the abundance of hate in the world is truly worrisome, one can take comfort in the fact that there still is, and will always be, love. An encouraging amount of it, in fact—even if it is more difficult to see on some days than it is on others.
While it can be more difficult to see, it’s important to always keep in our minds that love exists, because it is with love that amazing things are accomplished, both large and small. If we allow ourselves to get discouraged or get lost in how prevalent hate can be, life can begin to feel a little grim.
Living with love not only opens doors for wonderful things to happen in your own life, but it also may play a part in softening any hate that may be in the lives of those around you. Those around you might then share any love they have to offer with those in the lives around them. And so on and so forth.
This creates a beautiful chain of love that will radiate into the world in ways you may never know, through people you may never meet, slowly softening the hate that some people are harboring.
And while it may feel overly hopeful, maybe—just maybe—hate will be out-loved someday.
