Are you ready? Here we go! The first tips in the series focus on growing, keeping and empowering your social communities
SparkTip No. 1: BE SOCIAL
It’s important that you understand that social media is not just a marketing tool, it’s a relationship building tool! The very foundation of social media is to BE SOCIAL. The people in your social community want to be recognized, appreciated and engaged. So it’s important that you seek first to understand who they are, what they want and how they wish to interact. How do you do this? It’s simple-LISTEN, INTERACT and then DELIVER.
Who do you want to connect with? Spend a little time listening and watching. Identify two or three of your active social media users who you consider ideal clients or customers-study what they say, do and interact with on social media. What are the problems they need solved? What inspires them? What do they share, comment about and discuss?
After you’ve spent time listening-interact! It could be as simple as liking a Facebook post, commenting on a photo, asking a question, or connecting with them as a follower, fan or connection. Start a conversation-be friendly! Most people are eager to be recognized, appreciated and engaged on social media. It’s expected!
Give your community what they want and need. Based on what you find out with your listening and interaction, it’s time to deliver. Be a resource, a go-to friend, someone who they can count on to answer questions and solve their problems. Be entertaining, inspiring and encouraging as you travel with them on the journey together!
Now, go do it!
